Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre (NAC) recognizes the traditional territory of the Coast Salish nations upon whose territory we work, live and play.
NAC is a community organization with a focus on early childhood development that acknowledges the critical importance of supporting healthy human development in the early years.
Aboriginal Daycare (3-5 yrs)
NEW PROGRAM - Nanaimo's first urban Aboriginal daycare program. Full-time, licensed daycare program that embraces Aboriginal culture within all aspects of daily activities, including an outdoor curriculum and a connection to the land.
Limited spaces available. For families who are eligible for the maximum MCFD childcare subsidy, you may also be available for funding through our Aboriginal Childcare Scholarship Fund. Please contact us for more information.

Nisaika Kumtuks Elementary Centre
A collaborative and innovative education model that infuses Aboriginal culture and language into 3 key components:
The Elementary Centre opened September 22, 2014, all students are welcome, although space is limited. Contact Heather Goodall, Vice Principal, at 250-754-3215 for more information.
Home Instruction for Parents with Preschool Youngsters. A free in-home, early literacy program for parents with preschool aged children. It is a community-driven and community-based program which creates a sense of pride and ownership in each family's success. This is the only Aboriginal HIPPY program on Vancouver Island.
